The call of the National Voluntary Blood Services Program thru the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC), for more blood donations came as a welcome opportunity for the National Economic and Development Authority-I (NEDA-I) employees to become instruments of life.
On October 29 2009, NEDA-I Dir. Leonardo N. Quitos, Jr. and ARD Nestor G. Rillon led the filling-up of the 450 cc blood bags for our brothers and sisters in need of blood donations. A total of 5,400 cc was collected to help replenish the ITRMC Blood Bank. Dir. Quitos stated that the “Primary recipients of the blood donations are patients being treated for Leptospirosis, a dreadful illness contracted during the flood brought about by Typhoons “Ondoy and Pepeng”.
Members of the ITRMC Mobile Blood Donation Team were very grateful to those men and women who had unselfishly offered their blood in these times when donations have become scarce. The ITRMC Members encouraged those who have not yet donated to give blood regularly not only to aid in the immediate need for donations but it also benefits the donor in the creation of new and better cells. Dir. Quitos also expressed his hope for another batch of donation in the coming months. (mpi)
