In support to the observance of the “Stand United, Fight Poverty” (SUFP) Campaign of the National Anti-Poverty Commission, the Regional KALAHI Convergence Group (RKCG) recently conducted a Karaban in Adams, Ilocos Norte.

Before the Karaban, a one-on- one consultation between the Regional Needs Assessment Team and the LGU Officials was conducted to determine the priority needs of Adams. This was also the basis of various agencies in identifying their commitments for the municipality.

More than one thousand residents participated in the karaban and most of them took advantage of the medical-dental mission provided by the RKCG partner agencies. The event also became a venue to award livelihood checks, Certificates of Land Titles, scholarships, and render technical assistance.

In addition, RKCG member-agencies committed other social and economic development projects for the area.

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte also joined in the Karaban and pledged programs and projects, mostly infrastructure support aimed at improving the plight of the people.

The Karaban aims to strengthen the poverty reduction program thru the convergence of the various services of local government units and regional line agencies vis-à-vis the identified needs of depressed area. (mcu)
